Church Online

About four months ago, I started serving in Live Prayer at LifeChurch.tv, let me tell you, if you are looking for a place where you can make a difference, that would be it!!

I wanted to share with you a little bit of what I experienced on one of the week  I served with Church Online, well, three days to be more accurate.

On Sundays, I serve at all three of the Central Time experiences. On that particular Sunday, one of the first request that came in was from a very hurt Darika (not her real name off course). Her request came in as “God help me” sounds pretty common and innocent right? An easy one, we all need God’s help, when I opened the chat however, that’s when the hurt spoke loud and clear;

“i am too frustrated i want to die”

First reaction: Close the chat and blame it on a technical difficulty, no one will know, right? Well, no one besides the one that I serve, hmmm… not a good plan.

Second reaction: Take a deep breath and ask God to help you, go in the volunteer’s chat and ask the awesome bunch of volunteers/staff members to pray for you and with you. Guess what, they did!! I lead Darika through a prayer as best I knew how, told her I would keep her in my prayers and let God do the rest.

What amazes me was, how quickly the responded to my request for their assistance in lifting up this hurting child to God! Wow! That’s community!

On Monday night, one of the volunteer (who is an awesome woman of God and a friend) wasn’t feeling well and ask me if I could cover for her. At first, the flesh (who I also call the enemie) gave me all sorts of reasons why I shouldn’t do it, once I shut it up, I told my friend, I would be happy to do cover for her (by that time, my flesh and I had a heart to heart conversation and I really felt God wanted me to bless her in that way), It didn’t take long before I understand why He needed me there that night. A young woman, that we will name Magalie (not her real name) enter the the live prayer with the request similar as this one:

“Ok I have fallen away from God but i am trying to come back, I was in a physical relationship but the guy broke up with me the thing is i might be pregnant and there is a huge part of me that wants to be.”

” I really want this baby and i know that it will hard but i have felt so empty and with out purpose and I know that being a mother will give me a joy that i have yet to find.”

I have been there, the part of feeling empty and think that a child could fill the void and bring you the joy only the Lord can, I have two wonderful boys outside of marriage and although some might judge me, in God’s eyes, I was fully qualified to pray with Magalie, which I did. I also asked her if we could stay in touch; she gaciously said “yes” I am letting God guide me and use me as He sees fit in that situation.

And then, on Tuesday I had Sinfulman (that’s the name he was using that night. Since it pretty much describes everyone of us, I didn’t thik it was necessary to change it).

Sinfulman’s request was simply “Not Sure”. He had been in the chat and was asking a lot of questions about suicide, and God’s forgiveness. Now, something that is made clear when we start as volunteer with Church Online Live Prayer team, is that we are here to pray with people, we shouldn’t feel pressured to give a lesson or answer questions, but one thing that LifeChurch.tv has always been great at is to let God lead and Church Online is no different! (Amazing people, i tell you). I, once more, requested assistance from the awesome bunch of volunteers/staff members, this time for both, prayers and advice and again, they delivered!

Sinfulman REALLY struggled to believe that God could love him, now, you need to know that Sinfulman found himself attending the pre-recording of the inernational message for the One Prayer series that will be happening in June (awesome move of God wheen the Church is united to worship our Lord) the message is called “God is… Love” well, what do you know, here we have someone that stuggles to believe that God loves him and our Senior Pastor Craig Groeschel is talking about how God loves us. Here are some of the conversation (we had been praying/talking for about 10 mins or so at that point) :

Renee Tanguay : show him how much you love him Lord,  for you are Love, it is your essence

sinfulman: renee, im sorry,  i cant have u say this to me, i dont deserve it, i must go

(Conversation still going)

sinfulman (08:27:16 pm) : goodness, pastor craig, hes talking about,  wow, this is so amazing, r u listening to him, hes talking to me

Renee Tanguay (08:27:45 pm) : it’s not an accident you are here today, God is telling You He LOVES YOU

sinfulman (08:28:16 pm) : can u stay with me, is there a time limit to this

Renee Tanguay (08:28:40 pm) : no, there is no time limit

…

Needless to say, by the time Sinfull man left, God had lifed his Spirit and mine! I was humbled that He had chosen me to work through and so amazingly greatful He had brought me around a great community of volunteers/staff members.
