Easter Online Mission Opportunity
Let’s bring awareness to Jesus’s love for lost and hurting people by reaching out online as a community!
WHAT: Online Prayer Outreach
WHEN: Friday, April 2
TIME: 1:00pm US Central/6:00pm GMT
You might remember that we’ve hosted online prayer outreach missions before. It’s always incredible hearing the stories of people who simply type out a prayer for a social media contact and report back how God works in an amazing way.
If you’re unable to join us at the time above, you can choose any slice of time next week that’s convenient. Everyone who participates simply opens the chat tool (see below) as well as their Facebook and/or Twitter accounts. Each person can send Twitter Direct Messages including a personalized prayer to anyone who follows them. They may also open a chat session or send a message (no wall posts, please!) on Facebook with a prayer specifically for that person.
A few suggestions to keep in mind:
* Allow 30-60 minutes for the prayer outreach.
* Have your group pray in a chat room (I suggest setting up a room in http://babelwith.me) before and after the micro-
mission. Keep the chat open as a way to communicate throughout the event.
* If using the Facebook chat feature, you might paste something like
this message to introduce the micro-mission: “Hi! I’m part
of a group of people taking part in an Easter outreach
event today. We’re praying for our Facebook friends. Have a great
day!” (Then type a prayer. Close chat window. Select next
contact. If your contact is offline the chat prayer
window you created will pop up for them to see the next time they
log into Facebook.)
* Don’t overlook praying for people you don’t know well or who may
not be Christians. Follow the nudging of the Spirit and take a risk
for the Kingdom!
* Leave a few minutes at the end of the mission for everyone
to share what happened.
Imagine what can happen when many of us reach out online in the days leading up to Easter – we could see a real Kingdom difference made through Facebook and Twitter!
